Senior Banking and Risk Management Professional to Address BTAC


Doug Miles will present a look at the world of exotic financial instruments and the risks they pose to the global business community

New York, NY — The Business Threat Awareness Council will hold a lunch meeting with special guest speaker, Doug Miles on Tuesday 22 January 2008 at noon in midtown Manhattan.

This special event is hosted by the Arising Group.

Mr. Miles will speak about the risks of 'Exotic Financial Instruments' and the potential rewards that drive investors to make these high risk investments. The Sub-prime mortgage meltdown will be examined as well as other potential economic flash points for the near future.

The world wide derivatives market is estimated to be over $300 Trillion annually, much of it unregulated with no solid pricing mechanism.

In his over 20 years in global finance community, Mr. Miles has honed the skill of providing independent valuation in the hardest to price sectors of the global capital markets --which may trade infrequently or never.


ABOUT DOUG MILES

Mr. Douglas Miles is the founder, Chairman & CEO of GPE, Inc. www.gpe-inc.com. He has held senior positions at Merrill Lynch Capital Markets, Deutsche Morgan Grenfell, and Kleinwort Benson.

While at Merrill Lynch and Deutsche Morgan Grenfell Mr. Miles advised some of the world's largest investment management firms and corporations on their use of both derivatives as well as emerging markets assets in achieving their investment strategies.

Mr. Miles has also been a spokesman and panelist for the derivative products industry for various conferences. He was the Chief Marketing Officer and a founding shareholder in a financial software start-up in London. He has successfully managed and originated a variety of types of private and public securities issues and secondary offerings.

Mr. Miles has personally placed, sold, or arranged over $3.5 billion of public and private securities in his 20 year Wall Street and boutique investment banking career. He founded and has run for four years his own private placement advisory firm in Princeton, NJ.

He holds a BA in English/Economics with a minor in Geology from St. Lawrence University.
